Catherine Lucille Hansbro, known to close friends as “Cat Rag”, and to others as Mother Hansbro or “The Holy Ghost Mid Wife”, was born in Springfield, OH on March 5, 1928, to Asa and Everzene Ragland. She is the eldest of two children. Catherine joyfully went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2019, at 3:00 a.m. She was a graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, OH, and worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an Intelligence Aid for 38 years.
Mother Hansbro was baptized in Jesus name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost on May 10, 1968. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Family Worship Center under the pastorate of Bishop Cecil A. Pratt Jr. for 51 years. After his retirement, Suffragan Bishop Ann Story Pratt became her Pastor. She would make and sell fudge, cakes, pies, hats and her well known Crispy Critters to help pay church expenses. The membership at that time was primarily young people. She was Chairman of the Missionary Department for 13 years, sang in the Senior Choir and was a member of the Concerned Few, a group that dedicated themselves to pray with souls to receive the Holy Ghost. She was an altar worker and was faithful in visiting the sick in hospitals and nursing homes. She was also the first woman to be made a Trustee and became a member of the Church Trustee Board.
Mother Hansbro was a person who had a heart for God and His people. She helped everybody, no matter the age, race, gender or walk of life. She housed and fed more people than we can count. Many people knocked on her door late at night and early in the morning, and she never turned anyone away; whether they wanted food, clothes, a place to stay, prayer, deliverance, the Holy Ghost, orjust someone to talk to. Her reward will be great!!! And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (Rev. 22:12).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Everzene Ragland, her brother, Earl Ragland and nephews Marcus and Benson Ragland.
She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 children, Suffragan Bishop James G. (Frances) Belle, Elder Kimberly A. Hall and Anthony L. Hansbro; 4 grandchildren, Debra (Minister Matthew) Taylor, Nicole (Marcus) Pettis, Christina (Elder Nathan) Jordan and Zhylon Seals; 5 great grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Deboni Taylor, Quinton Hemphill, Kallie Jordan and Nathan Jordan III; 1 great-great grandchild, Alanni Hemphill; nephews, Earl D. (Gloria) Ragland and Bishop Steve (Donna) Houpe; nieces, Lacretia Edley, Monica Ragland and Rhonda Underwood; god-daughter, JoEllen Massie; special friends, Dorothy Waker and Virginia McCarty and a host of great nieces, great nephews, many cousins and friends.
TO MY FAMILY AND LOVED ONES: I have lived my life, and now I have gone to sleep until I wake up in Glory to live with my God, whom I love so much, and I will be able to praise Him forever. Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and soul, and live for him forever. He is your present help in the time of trouble and He makes ways out of no way. Not only that, but He will lead and guide you into all truth and give you peace and joy in the midst of sorrow, trouble and strife. To those who don’t know Him as Lord and Savior, seek Him while He yet may be found and call upon Him while He is near. You too must sleep one day and stand before a just God, who has every record. God bless you all and don’t be sad, for I have tried to leave with you love and pleasant memories, this should comfort your hearts. Remember the scripture: Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints (Psalms 116:15).
Love you to life,
Mother Catherine L. Hansbro, Holy Ghost Mid Wife
