Homer Roberts Obituary

Homer F. Roberts, 83, passed away on Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 24, 1941, in Urbana, Ohio to Charles Eugene Sr. and Margaret (Stillgess) Roberts. Homer was a proud graduate of Urbana High School and later served as a Medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was honorably discharged.

After his military service, Homer went on to have a successful career at Cascade Corporation before retiring after many years of service. He was a dedicated member of Greater First Baptist Church and found great joy in his faith. Homer had a passion for the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, deer hunting, and bowling. His love for these activities brought him immense happiness throughout his life.

Homer will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Roberts; his daughter, Djuna (Norman) Pickens of Missouri City, TX; his two sons, Homer Roberts, Jr., and Bradley Roberts, of Springfield, Ohio; several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Jerry Cooper; sister-in-law, Peggy Roberts and his beloved and adored doges, Lightning and Stormy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Eugene Sr., and Margaret (Stillgess) Roberts; his daughter, Anita Y. (Roberts) Henry; four sisters: Patricia Cooper, Charlene Couts, Dorothy Easly, and Bonnie Roberts; and three brothers: Charles “Chuck” Roberts, Jr., Roger Roberts, and Arthur Green.

Homer was known for his generous spirit and dedication to serving others. He was actively involved in volunteering for the Frontier's Club and the Elderly United of Springfield, where he made a positive impact on the lives of many. Among all those he loved; his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. His cherished angels are Anisha, Bianca, Brittany, Christian, Anita, Peja, Brooks, Matthew, Keosha, Kennedy, Johnnie Jr., Kamiya, Dominic and Tru. They brought him immense joy and he cherished every moment spent with them. Homer served as a surrogate "Paw Paw" for many others, sharing his love for fishing and hunting with younger generations.

His legacy of kindness, love, and service will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Homer's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing leaves a void in the lives of many, but his spirit will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.

Homer F. Roberts will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his selfless acts of kindness, and his passion for life. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made a lasting impact on the world around him.
